"Icon. Actress. Supermodel. Chanteuse. Muse. Frog-o-phile. Cinema and television superstar nonpareil."
This is Miss Piggy's press copy, most likely written by her in anticipation of her new movie Disney's "The Muppets," in theatres the day before Thanksgiving. She's been gracing the late night airwaves on shows like the "Late, Late Show" with Craig Ferguson, "Late Night" with Jimmy Falon and "Jimmy Kimmel Live" to promote her new flick. And if you can believe it, she's even teamed up with MAC makeup to debut a Miss Piggy-themed collection featuring pink eye shadow, black eyeliner and false lashes, of course. In addition, she's also modeling designer looks for November's issue of "InStyle" magazine. Not bad for a cute little pig! I hope she didn't hear that!
"Do you have a plan for Thanksgiving dinner?" Jimmy Kimmel asks Miss Piggy. She sighs and then says, "Well, I'm gonna have turkey." Jimmy Kimmel laughs as he repeats her answer, "You will have turkey?" "Yeah, of course. That's one of the benefits of being, um, high up on the food chain. Ya', you can eat whatever's below ya." she states.
Luckily, we aren't pigs and can enjoy a deliciously baked maple glazed ham this Thanksgiving. To make the meal even more enjoyable, I've paired it with a bottle of the 2009 Domaine Zind-Humbrecht Gewurztraminer from Alsace, France that even Miss Piggy wouldn't turn down. Gewurztraminer is the name of the grape and is the perfect white wine to pair with Thanksgiving dinner due to its rich, full body and medium acidity.
This wine will work with almost everything on the table and I especially love it with maple glazed ham accompanied by all the hefty sides like sweet potato casserole. The wine has aromas of lychee, roses, orange peel and spice with a touch of residual sugar left in it. This residual sugar works nicely with the sweetness of the ham, plus, packs the body and acidity that Gewurztraminer's can usually lack. In addition, the nutmeg and spice aromas enhance the maple flavors found in the ham and give a great sweet vs. savory experience when sipping this wine alongside turkey or stuffing. Hope you enjoy!
